Roman is an amateur folk instrument maker and has been building and playing tsymbaly for over 35 years. He continues a unique folk music tradition first brought to the prairie provinces of Canada by Ukrainian immigrants from the Carpathian region in the 1890s. He has performed at local festivals, cultural and social events throughout those years including the Dnipro and Lviv Pavilions at Fiesta Week in Oshawa and the Village Voices tent at the Capital Ukrainian Festival in Ottawa.
