Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Orthodox Cathedral Choir

The choir of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Ottawa has been around since 1949 and can be found every Sunday in the Cathedral choir loft at 1000 Byron Avenue.

In addition to drawing on a rich Ukrainian a capella liturgical tradition, it also has in it’s repertoire many of the hundreds of Ukrainian carols and folk songs that exist.

The choir has performed Ukrainian Christmas carols at the Prime Minister's residence, the Leader of the Opposition's residence, and at the home of the EU Ambassador in Ottawa. The choir is directed by Larissa Foti-Mason, a trained opera singer.
